Parish Mission Prayer
to pour out your Spirit upon your people of Truro.
Grant us a new vision of your glory,
a new experience of your power,
a new faithfulness to your Word,
and a new consecration to your service.
May your love grow among us and your kingdom come,
through Christ our Lord. Amen
Feast of the Assumption
Intercessions
Priest
“The last enemy to be destroyed is death” Today we celebrate Christ’s victory over sin and death; and the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a sign of that victory. Confident that we too share that promise, we turn to the Lord in prayer.
For hope in God’s promises.
Christ has been raised, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
May we be filled with confidence in God’s power: and be assured that we too will share the glory that has been promised.
Lord, in your mercy...
For Pope Benedict’s visit, that his presence will bring many blessings on our country and help the Church to move on from our recent problems.
Lord, in your mercy...
For the gift of peace.
May all the Governments of the world receive the light that God sends, and so work together for peace, especially in the, Afghanistan, Iraq and the Holy Land
Lord, in your mercy
Lord, in your mercy...
For the people throughout the world who are suffering from wars and natural disasters. We remember particularly the people who are victims of the floods in Pakistan. Also for the relief organisations and their workers who are helping the people in these areas.
Lord, in your mercy...
For confidence to help our neighbour.
In today’s Gospel we hear how Mary went quickly and unselfishly to help her cousin Elizabeth.May we always follow her example and never hesitate to go to the help of those in need.
Lord, in your mercy...
For those who are unemployed and for the needy in our world today. We pray for children who always seem to suffer most where these problems occur.
Lord, in your mercy...
On this great Feast Day, let us remember that Mary is the Mother of Church and ask her to pray for the Church throughout the world and especially in our own country as we prepare for the visit of Pope Benedict as we say ….
Hail Mary....
In the silence of our hearts we bring to our heavenly Father our needs and concerns.
Priest
God of all creation, you raised Mary to glory, and she is our queen and mother. Listen to our prayers this day,
